The Final Word

All along this ride, I was wondering from where to get this conversation started. We both knew this was going to be, in the least, awkward. He tried the usuals for starters, cussing the traffic, stepping on gas more often than required, blaring music be changed every 2 minutes, coming out rough. Such talks are over-rated, you know, a girl and a boy talking through an 'incident'. Much more than a book  they shared that carried a personal bookmark, to a longer than usual eye-to-eye contact in a conversation, a conversation that for most parts was one-sided; she is drunk, check! I've heard this laugh before, I know this silence. I'm still here, with everything left past behind me. I'm still standing right there, with myself. I've got no two ways about this. And it's not going to be you and me. The noises in the car were not louder than those in my head. The wheels just kept rolling. Just as 'breaking ice' is a term for false alarm, I did it!
