Arch-Nemesis

People amaze me. It's fun being around something that can move, talk to you, respond in a way you could not expected the least. Things that can love you, care for you, hurt you. Things that can feel, think, and plan. An overused and abused word, plan. Things that are helpful yet selfish. Happy yet sad. Playful, and evil. Clarification. I am amazed by people. With some deep seeded curiosity, to know how it would be it I weren't me. What would I do if life wasn't the way I saw it everyday, right from the moment I wake up to the time I batted by eyes last in the night.  If my friends, weren't my friends, but could be acquaintances, or even enemies (not that I endorse this word!)  With this new thought, I walk up to every person I know and talk to them like we would in a parallel world, another dimension, where my acquaintance would cheer up at the sight of me, and applaud my great doings! It felt good, good different. Almost unreal.  At one point I felt that I may hav...

The Bad Boy Syndrome

Everyday as you wake up in the morning, you promise yourself, to be good, to be nice, gracefully loyal and whatever. Before you know it, your rules are crushed by a huge lion walking around to beat your niceness all along. Hate him, like you've hated sugarless cake or pepperless salads. I walk down the road, watching him beat up innocent children. The smug smile, the rustic fervor that almost makes you drive him up the wall, the callous nature, and you just stare politely. you don't want to smile. You don't even want to look. The second time I walked down the entrance, it was as if he knew I'd be there. I couldn't get pass it this time. "How can you?" I barfed at the thought of having to speak to this guy, who was now standing arrogantly after having taken the money from looney teenager. "Don't pretend you're all that good. Nobody is." I wanted to leave victorious, but now I was confused. "Yes, I am good" I reassured ...

The night of the missing rabbit

Ever thought you needed to control something in your life, so you walk down the park, listen to crappy music, find a spot so you can sit by yourself to make some notes by yourself, and figure how you can get over the need to be Ms. President of the country. Yes, that's the new thing on my mind right now. I have no clue how the system works, but every time the traffic cop insists that I broke the light even if I didn't, I feel like pulling out my secret card that says, 'President of India' and ask him to do his job. (I am being very, very subtle here). After a few minutes of lost chain of thoughts I realized I didn't want to control anything anymore. So I walk back home, feeling all jumpy and joyful. "There!" I screamed as I was hiding behind the ugliest car in town, a turquoise blue old car, it was not worthy of being called an antique. "I am being chased by someone!" I yelled again into my cell phone, as I realized the battery had just died ou...

Not Yet...

Driving crazy To no end There you talk There you mend But this is out Over and beyond Leash out open Your friendship is all And the nature Without any walls Its all about you Innocent so it be Final call that gave away Is it you or is it me As you mind rushes through Let your heart talk Move on Such blur as you walk When you wont When you dont Find the truth or the fakes Place your foot down Drop it all The road ahead says Not yet...

Recipe to a perfect day

As I wake up in the morning, the rush jobs begin. In the middle of swooping past blurry shapes, I sit down to think about the day to come, the people to meet, the work to be done, and a million other lists that are on my mind. There's one person who makes all of this easier on me. One who shares things from his morning chuckles to his evening yawns. Who cares about his shoes more than he cares about his house. Talks more passionately about books and GI Joes than Kate Beckinsale! One who can scold me and ask to be scolded! The thing is, the key to a perfect day is having a person by your side who can share it with you. And I'm lucky enough to have one! This post is dedicated to the one person who makes getting up in the morning worthwhile.

Shelf of unread books

'Where to mister?" she yelled at me from a distance, loud enough for everyone to notice.  "Hey, I'm not some kind of a thief, just looking around, grabbing a book to read. That's what they're meant for, right?" "Yea, if you pay for it!" "Of course, here." I paid for the stack of papers bound together in knots of tiny rounds, filled with words that were about to change my life. As I walked home, I was beaming with a sense of refreshment. I hadn't read a book in months, and calling myself an avid reader wasn't true anymore. It was a cold Saturday afternoon, and I was dreaming about a warm coffee in my balcony with my book. However, my footsteps had a different afternoon planned for me. "No, sir. Dalal Street is where I want to go. Could you help me?" I heard an unfamiliar accent from the corner of the street. "Seedha rasta hai" "What?" "It's straight from this turn, approximat...

The Final Word

All along this ride, I was wondering from where to get this conversation started. We both knew this was going to be, in the least, awkward. He tried the usuals for starters, cussing the traffic, stepping on gas more often than required, blaring music be changed every 2 minutes, coming out rough. Such talks are over-rated, you know, a girl and a boy talking through an 'incident'. Much more than a book  they shared that carried a personal bookmark, to a longer than usual eye-to-eye contact in a conversation, a conversation that for most parts was one-sided; she is drunk, check! I've heard this laugh before, I know this silence. I'm still here, with everything left past behind me. I'm still standing right there, with myself. I've got no two ways about this. And it's not going to be you and me. The noises in the car were not louder than those in my head. The wheels just kept rolling. Just as 'breaking ice' is a term for false alarm, I did it!...
